CLOTH & PAPER CLUB CLUB STORES CLOTH AND PAPERS NEW YORK, NY — February 8, 2020— Clothing store CLOTH&PAPER, one of the oldest and largest clothing retailers in New York, has announced that it will be removing all its clothing from the shelves of its stores across the city.
CLOTH’S CEO, Jody Clements, announced the move in a blog post on February 8.
“The company has taken the decision to discontinue all clothing in our stores, except for a limited number of T-shirts,” she wrote.
“While the company has always valued our customers and employees and the positive impact we have had on the communities we serve, the changing times have brought us to this point.
We are humbled by the incredible outpouring of support from our loyal fans, many of whom have reached out to us through social media to express their appreciation.
We appreciate your support.
We love you, too.
Clothes store CLINTON CLUB has also decided to close all of its apparel stores across Manhattan.
“As we continue to evolve our business, we need to focus on providing our customers with the best clothing and accessories they need to live and work in the New York City environment,” CLINTON’s CEO, David Dinkins, said in a statement.
“We are truly grateful for the support of our customers over the years and for the many ways we have enriched the lives of our fans, including through the many opportunities for community engagement we offer each year.
Our goal with CLINTON is to continue to provide the best customer experience possible for our fans and staff.”

“Clothing stores across our entire country have become increasingly focused on the needs of consumers,” Clements said in the blog post.
“With the introduction of new products, the rise of digital platforms and a variety of new services, our team is making it easier for our customers to purchase and shop with the confidence of knowing they will always be able to find a quality product at a price they can afford.”
CLINTONCLINDSCLUB is making the decision after the company experienced a spike in inventory and sales following the hurricanes that hit the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
“Our team has been working diligently to bring back the quality that made CLINTON the number one fashion retailer in the country in 2016,” Cements statement said.
“In the aftermath of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, we felt it was critical to make a quick decision to phase out our clothing inventory.
With this announcement, we are closing all our stores and taking the next steps to make our stores more accessible to our customers.”
